Motorcyclist seriously injured but stable after southeast Edmonton crash

Drivers were asked to avoid Sherwood Park Freeway near Argyll Road due to a serious motorcycle crash on Thursday evening.

The area was closed until just before 9 p.m.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area and find other routes if possible.

In an update later, police said a 52-year-old man on a motorcycle lost control while heading east on Argyll Road, driving over the curb and sliding down the grass hill into oncoming westbound traffic.

He crashed head on into a 2013 Toyota Corolla.

His injuries were serious, but police said his condition was stable.

Speed is being considered a factor.
