Person of interest sought in deliberately set infill fire

Police are looking for a person of interest in connection with a fire that destroyed a house under construction in south Edmonton.

On March 19 at 11:50 a.m. police were called by Edmonton Fire Rescue Services to the scene of a fire at 108 Street and 85 Avenue.

No injuries were reported, but the building was destroyed by the fire and neighbouring homes and nearby parked vehicles suffered significant damage.

Damage to the house under construction is estimated at over $1 million.

Fire investigators have now determined the fire was deliberately set.

At this time police do not believe the fire is linked to any other infill or extortion fires.

After reviewing video from the area, investigators have identified a person of interest they are hoping to speak to in the case and have released images in hopes of finding that person.
