One more blast of late-summer heat before the kids go back to school next week. An upper ridge will settle over the province for the next few days bringing sunshine and afternoon highs in the mid to upper 20s. Today will be Edmonton’s 10th consecutive day with above-average temperatures and we’ll stretch that streak out to twelve. But, as the ridge moves off on Thursday, we’ll see some showers and thunderstorms develop in central and north-central Alberta late in the day. The best chance for precipitation in the Edmonton area will be in the evening hours Thursday as a cold front sweeps through. Behind the front, daytime highs drop to the 20 C range for Friday/Saturday. Looking LONG range: It’s a fairly dry pattern for next week with afternoon highs in the low to mid 20s.
