Teacher sentenced to 6 years for sex crimes involving children

An Alberta teacher has pleaded guilty to sex offences involving children.

Janelle Arnold pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual interference as well as eight counts of failure to comply with a release order.

On Monday she was handed a sentence of six years in prison for the crimes.

A charge of making or publishing child sexual abuse materials was withdrawn, as were two other counts of failure to comply with a release order.

Charges of sexual assault, sexual contact with a child, and luring a child under 16 were stayed.

Arnold was arrested in connection with sex crimes involving children on three separate occasions.

Prior to her arrests she was a teacher at Duclos School, a preschool to Grade 4 school in Bonnyville, Alta.
