Monday is Family Day and if you don’t want to relax at home all day, there’s plenty to do in and around the city for the whole family.
Here are some of the events happening on Monday.

The Edmonton Arts Council is hosting free, family-friendly activities and entertainment from noon to 4 p.m. at Sir Winston Churchill Square, City Hall, Art Gallery of Alberta, Citadel Theatre, Stanley A. Milner Library and the Royal Alberta Museum.
There are also skate sessions at Rogers Place from 3 to 4 p.m., 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. Attendees will also have the chance to walk down the player’s tunnel, take a photo in front of the Oilers locker room, meet Hunter and Louie and visit the Hall of Fame.
The Muttart Conservatory is hosting an out-of-this-world event between noon and 4 p.m. with space- and mars-themed crafts, sensory play, airbrush tattoos, a roving magician and more.
For some furry and feathered fun, the Edmonton Valley Zoo is hosting animal talks and teaching visitors about animal conservation. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Reuse Centre has some environmentally-friendly activities planned, including a scavenger hunt, colouring contest and a toy swap. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring donations.
Monday is the last day of the annual Silver Skate Festival at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park for this year, running from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Over at the legislature from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can enjoy free performances, magic shows, juggling, hoop dancing, crafts, storytelling, public tours and more.

If spending time indoors doesn’t sound fun, outdoor skating rinks, toboggan hills and cross country ski trails will be open, depending on conditions.
If you’re out and about and craving a drink or a snack but don’t want to head inside, plenty of businesses have winter patios up and running.
Neighbourhood rec centres are a good place to if you want to get out but not go too far, the city said most would be open on Monday. Eastglen is currently closed for maintenance.
On Family Day, all bus routes in Edmonton will operate on Saturday schedules.
In Strathcona County, admission fees on Monday at recreation facilities will be used to support the Everybody Gets to Play program. Many facilities have added activities for the day.
Over in Beaumont, the Family Day celebration runs from 1 to 4 p.m. and includes a picnic show, magic shows, crafts, family bingo and circus activities.
Next door in Leduc at the rec centre, activities are going from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and include princesses, a bouncy castle, skating, a giant lite brite and more.
It may be winter, but the fish are still biting at the Family Fishing Weekend on Saturday, Sunday and Monday all over the province. Water bodies with open fishing seasons can be used without a sportfishing license this weekend, except those using a special harvest license.
