Warrant issued for man convicted of fraud in 2025

Edmonton police say a man charged in more than a dozen fraudulent buy-and-sell transactions is using an e-transfer scam.

A man who was previously convicted in a series of buy-and-sell frauds is now wanted by the Edmonton Police Service in connection with more frauds.

According to EPS, Ryan Kenzie, 46, was convicted in connection with nine frauds in Edmonton and Sherwood Park between April and mid-October 2025.

In each case Kenzie would meet someone selling an expensive item, such as phones, watches, or jewelry.

He would convince the seller that he had sent an e-transfer and leave with the item, but the e-transfers were never sent.

After serving his sentence for the 2025 frauds, Kenzie was released into the community on probation, and EPS says he was charged with fraud in the same scheme soon after.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

“The repeated nature of these incidents suggests this individual may have targeted many more people,” Const. Emily Kostuik said in a news release.

“By raising awareness, we hope to prevent others from falling victim to fraud and encourage anyone impacted to report it to police.”

Police are asking anyone who may have been defrauded by Kenzie to come contact them at 780-423-4567.

People conducting online sales are also encouraged to use the buy and sell exchange zones in EPS parking lots, which are well lit and monitored by cameras, to help deter fraud and give both parties peace of mind.
