Assault charge withdrawn against woman who sprayed neighbour with water gun

An Ontario woman has agreed to a peace bond after she sprayed her neighbour with a water gun. CTV’s Krista Simpson has the details.

An assault with a weapon charge laid against a Simcoe woman who sprayed her neighbour with a water gun has now been withdrawn.

At a brief court appearance on Tuesday, Wendy Washik entered into a peace bond, promising to be of ‘generally good behaviour’ for nine months, and to not communicate with the neighbour involved.

Court heard that while she agreed to the peace bond, Washik was not admitting any criminal or civil guilt.

A short summary of the case was provided in court at the request of Justice of the Peace Audrey Greene Summers.

On September 1, 2024, just before 6 in the evening, Washik’s neighbour was outside doing yard work. Washik was at a party next door and was playing with a child when she sprayed the neighbour with a water gun. The story made numerous headlines when Provincial Police charged Washik with assault with a weapon as a result.

Previously, Washik told CTV News the incident was an accident, but footage shared with other news outlets has put her account into question.

Court heard Washik has no previous criminal record.

In addition to not communicating with the neighbour involved, Washik also has been ordered to not be within five meters of him.
