Bars and restaurants gear up for an ‘absolutely wild’ night for Game 6 of the World Series

As fans prepare to root, root, root for the home team, businesses are getting ready for a busy night. CTV’s Heather Senoran takes a look at the preparations.

Bars and restaurants around Waterloo Region are expecting a busy Friday night as fans get together to cheer on the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 6.

The team is just one game away from winning the World Series against the L.A. Dodgers.

“It’s such a great party,” said Joseph Siasat, the general manager at Moose Winooski’s in Kitchener. “It’s the experience. Even our staff are super excited about it. The vibe is going to be amazing.”

For those who don’t have a jersey, you can win one at the restaurant.

“They could just fill out a ballot and, hopefully crossing your fingers, you’ll win,” Siasat said.

Instead of wearing his Jays jerseys on Friday, Siasat opted for a taco costume instead.

“It’s incredible to have Halloween and potentially the Blue Jays winning the World Series [on the same night],” he said.

In Uptown Waterloo, Kentucky Bourbon and BBQ are expecting customers to wear a mix of jerseys and costumes.

“We’re expecting it to be absolutely wild,” said bar supervisor Alan Becirevic.

The restaurant brought in more staff members as it is bound to be a busy night.

“Friday, Halloween and the game, it’ll be it’ll be chaotic... in a good way,” Becirevic said.

Staff expected seats to fill up, no matter what they were there for.

“We’ll play sound on with a little bit of music mixed when the Dodgers are up or [during] breaks and stuff like that,” Becirevic explained. “Because we will have a crowd who are here for Halloween, and not everyone will be here just for the Jays. So, we’ll play to both crowds.”

He hopes the Jays will win it all in Game 6.

“Even though a Game 7 will be good for business,” Becirevic admitted. “Selfishly, we would love to see them finish tonight.”

Most bars and restaurants are operating on a first-come-first-serve basis, so fans should plan to go as early as possible – if you don’t have trick-or-treating duties as well.
