‘A total loss’: Barn fire investigation underway in Cambridge

Published:

No one was hurt following a large barn fire in Cambridge Saturday morning.

The Cambridge Fire Department (CFD) is investigating a morning barn fire on Maple Grove Road.

Deputy Fire Chief, Brad Churchill, said crews were called to a structure fire at around 7 a.m. Saturday.

“CFD is on the scene of a vacant barn fire that is now under control,” Churchill said in an email to CTV News. “Crews are operating in a defensive strategy with no exposures. The barn was fully involved and collapsed inward.”

White smoke could be seen billowing into the air at around 11:15 a.m. What was left of the barn was smoldering as crews continued to put out hotspots.

No injuries were reported.

Fire crews will remain on scene throughout the day to determine the origin, cause and circumstances of the fire.

Churchill said the barn is a total loss.

Maple Grove Road was closed between Boxwood Drive and Speedsville Road.
