Ontario Provincial Police have charged the driver of a transport truck that struck the Wayne Gretzky Parkway overpass at Highway 403 on Monday.
They said the truck was carrying an excavator with its boom left in a raised position.
Just after 11 a.m., the excavator struck the bridge as the truck was passing underneath the bridge.
OPP said no one was hurt.
One vehicle was struck by debris from the bridge, causing its windshield to break. The excavator was also damaged.
OPP said driver was charged with operating a vehicle while suspended. They are also expected to face additional charges once the transport truck undergoes a commercial motor vehicle inspection.
The Ministry of Transportation inspected the bridge before it reopened to traffic at 7 p.m.
All lanes of Highway 403 are open, but the Wayne Gretzky Parkway has been reduced to one lane in both directions at the overpass.
