One person was hurt Thursday in a house fire in Waterloo.

Emergency services were called to the Lexington Road area around 3 p.m.

Waterloo Fire said the blaze was located in the basement, but crews could see light smoke billowing coming from the home when they arrived.

By 5:40 p.m., the fire was out.

The road was closed in both directions between Lee Avenue and Dunvegan Drive as crews worked, but has since reopened.

More to come.
