An elementary school in Breslau is getting a new addition thanks to a multi-million-dollar investment from the province. The Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) announced an expansion would be coming to St. Boniface Catholic Elementary School. The new addition would see 262 new student spaces for families in Breslau, Maryhill and surrounding areas. In a news release shared Friday, the board said it received approval from the Ontario government to “issue the tender” for the project — an investment of $13.1 million. “This investment in St. Boniface Catholic Elementary School is a tremendous gift to the families of Breslau and to the future of Catholic education in our growing community,” WCDSB director of education Annalisa Varano said in the release. “Through this investment, we’re creating opportunities for students to thrive today and well into the future,” said Mike Harris, Member of Provincial Parliament for Kitchener—Conestoga. Ontario’s education minister Paul Calandra echoed Harris’ comments, saying the investment in the new addition will help set students up for success. “Once completed, this project will offer an inspiring learning environment that helps students prepare for the jobs of tomorrow. Our government will continue to provide the resources students need for ultimate achievement,” Calandra said in the release. The WCDSB said updates on the expansion will be shared with the school community as the project moves forward.
