Ontario Provincial Police say impaired driving was to blame for a crash in Erin. Emergency responders were called to 9th Line, around 8 p.m. Sunday, for a car that hit a hydro pole. The force of the collision caused the pole to split. Police also closed 9th Line for several hours while crews made repairs to the hydro line. The driver, a 20-year-old from Brampton, was charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance and failure or refusal to comply with a demand. “Drivers are reminded that refusing to comply with a lawful demand for a breath sample is a criminal offence that carries the same consequences and penalties as impaired driving,” the OPP’s media release said. The driver had his licence suspended for 90 days, while the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
