A councillor in Guelph has taken an unpaid leave of absence to make a run at Parliament Hill.

Dominique O’Rourke has been tapped as the federal Liberal candidate for the Guelph riding in the upcoming election.

Earlier this week, O’Rourke posted an update on her social media accounts, stating “I will not be monitoring this account from March 23 to April 30 as I am taking an unpaid absence from Guelph City Council.”

She urged constituents to contact the other Ward 6 councillor, Ken Yee Chew, or the mayor with any concerns while she focuses on the election.
