A victory for the Blue Shirts in Sunday night’s game means the Kitchener Rangers will get a chance to take the series away from the Windsor Spitfires on Tuesday.
In a fiery game on Sunday, Rangers’ goalie Jackson Parsons shutout the Spitfires, keeping them off the board the entire game.
The scoreboard stayed blank for both teams during the first period, as the goalies on both sides of the ice fended off multiple attempts at the net.
Seven minutes into the middle bracket, Rangers’ Cameron Mercer found the back of the net, putting the team on the board. After getting pulled down while trying to score, Rangers’ Jack Pridham was awarded a penalty shot at the 13:23 mark. Pridham capitalized on the opportunity putting the Rangers up 2-0.
Pridham was able to take this energy into the final frame, hammering home a goal 13 minutes into the period. Rangers’ Andrew Vermeulen later scored an insurance marker, tipping a ricocheted puck at the 17:36 mark to put the rangers up 4-0.
The Rangers’ will face the Spitfires in Game 7 on Tuesday for a chance to continue on to the Ontario Hockey League west conference finals. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. at Windsor’s WFCU Centre.
