Man from Exeter charged with careless driving in fatal Wilmot Township crash

A man from Exeter has been charged months after a fatal collision in Wilmot Township.

Waterloo Regional Police Service officers were called to the Bleams Road and Nafziger Road area on Oct. 24 around 9:20 p.m.

Investigators said a Ford SUV went through the intersection and collided with a Hyundai SUV. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

The driver of the Ford, a 55-year-old man from Exeter, was taken to hospital with significant injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 60-year-old man from Zurich, was also taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, a passenger in the Hyundai, a 61-year-old woman from Zurich, died at the crash site.

On Wednesday, the Exeter man was charged with careless driving causing death, careless driving causing bodily harm, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to stop at a stop sign.
