Police investigate robbery linked to online sale in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a robbery connected to an online marketplace transaction in Waterloo.

Officers were called to a plaza on Northfield Drive East near Bridge Street West at approximately 10:40 p.m. Saturday following reports of a disturbance.

Police said the victim had arranged to meet an individual to sell an item listed on a buy-and-sell website. During the meeting, the item was taken and the suspect fled, joining other individuals who were waiting nearby. All suspects then left the area.

No injuries have been reported.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Police are reminding residents to use designated Buy and Sell Exchange Zones, located in the parking lots of Waterloo Regional Police facilities, when completing online transactions.
