Waterloo Regional Police are looking for help to identify a suspect after a Kitchener home was broken into over the weekend.

Police said a male gained entry into a home in the area of Waterloo Street and Louisa Street between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

The male reportedly stole personal items before leaving.

The home was occupied at the time of the incident, according to police.

Investigators have released images of a person they say they want to identity and speak with regarding the break in.

Police are encouraging homeowners to consider the following safety measures to help prevent break-and-enters:

  • Lock windows and doors, including garage doors, even when home.
  • Ensure valuables are secured in a locked location, such as a safe.
  • Consider installing a surveillance/security system, which can remotely monitor the front, rear, and inside the residence.
  • Report any suspicious activity or individuals to police immediately.

The investigation remains ongoing by the Break, Enter, and Vehicle Theft Team. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-570-9777, ext. 8255.
