Waterloo Regional Police are urging community members to stay vigilant after a second distraction theft was reported in Kitchener this week. Police say a 78-year-old woman was in front of her home on Old Maple Lane when two unknown people approached her. While speaking to the victim, the suspects removed two of her necklaces and bracelets. Police say the pair drove off and the victim was not physically injured. The first suspect was described as a 55-year-old brown woman who was wearing a head scarf and a long grey floral dress at the time of incident. The second suspect was described as a 30-year-old brown man with a thin build. Police say he was wearing a light brown jacket and white pants. The incident comes after another woman’s necklace was stolen while she was on her driveway in Kitchener Wednesday afternoon. “Part of the ongoing investigation will be determining if there is a connection between the two separate incidents and if the same suspects were involved in both incidents,” WRPS Const.
