Two Conestoga College campuses to consolidate in Kitchener, Brantford

Some Conestoga College students will soon be on the move as the school looks to consolidate its operations. CTV’s Heather Senoran explains.

Two Conestoga College campuses in Kitchener and Brantford will be consolidating with other locations nearby after their leases expire.

“The college’s leases at 274 Colborne Street in Brantford and 49 Frederick Street in Kitchener will soon expire providing Conestoga with a chance to look at operational efficiencies and opportunities to better utilize our existing facilities,” a spokesperson for Conestoga College told CTV News in an emailed statement.

The downtown Kitchener location on Fredrick Street will transition to 1 Young Street, a few blocks away.

In Brantford, operations will move from Colborne Street to 50 Wellington Street.

The school did not specify when this will start.

CTV News obtained an email sent to two faculty members at Conestoga College that went into more detail about this transition.

The letter said operations will cease on May 1, 2025 in Brantford and at the end of August in Kitchener.

“We expect little to no disruption to staff and students during these relocations. We understand these changes may come with questions, and we are committed to making both transitions as smooth as possible for everyone. Specific transition details, including workspace arrangements and any support resources, have been shared with employees directly,” the letter read.

Conestoga College did not say how many students use either campus.

On the school’s website, the school said the Fredrick Street location opened January 2020, initially offering business programs to 1,000 students.

“Currently, the campus offers programs from the schools of Applied Computer Science & Information Technology, Workforce Development, and Creative Industries, to over 4,000 students,” reads the website.

The college said the development of student housing will continue at 22 Fredrick Street in Kitchener.

“Which involves conversion of a 12-story vacant office,” said Conestoga College.
