Waterloo Regional Police are investigating an alleged shooting incident in Waterloo early Friday morning.
Police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of University Avenue East and Weber Street North around 3:30 a.m.
“So investigators do believe that this was a targeted incident. It took place in a housing complex or a condo complex in the area,” Const. Melissa Quarrie with WRPS.
Two male suspects from Halton were arrested, a 15-year-old and 25-year-old.
The 25-year-old man was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a weapon, breaching probation and failure to comply with a court order.
The teen has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm and unauthorized possession of a fire.
There were no reports of physical injuries.
The males will remain in police custody for a bail hearing.
On Friday morning, police said there would be an increased police presence throughout the day.

So far this year there have been five shootings with no fatalities, according to police. In 2024 there were six shootings and two fatalities.
