Grand Slam of Curling finals take center stage in Guelph, Ont.

The community of Guelph, Ont. is buzzing with excitement as the highly anticipated Masters Event takes place Sunday, bringing together the sport’s top teams for a thrilling conclusion to the Grand Slam of Curling Series.

Hosted at the Sleeman Centre, curling enthusiasts have gathered to witness the world’s best curlers compete for glory and a share of the championship prize.

The Grand Slam of Curling is renowned for attracting elite teams from across the globe and this year is no exception. Fans united in Guelph on Sunday to watch the electrifying and, for some, nail-biting finals.

Ross Whyte and his Scottish squad took home their first career Grand Slam of Curling title.

“Whyte made a tap for two points in the eighth end to edge Brad Jacobs' Canadian Club 5-4 in the men’s final,” read a media release.

Whyte’s team, consisting of third Robin Brydone, second Duncan McFadzean and lead Euan Kyle claimed $38,000 from the $400,000 combined prize purse.

This is Whyte’s second Grand Slam final after finishing runner-up to Italy’s Team in last season’s Masters.

“It’s unreal,” Whyte said in the release. “This is what you’re hoping for your whole career, getting to these points and winning those massive games. Thankfully, we’ve done it today and got over the line on our second try.”

The women’s finals are currently underway with Canada facing Sweden.
