The Guelph Police Service says a home was broken into Sunday and ransacked while the owner was napping.

Just after 6:30 p.m., police were called to a home near Edinburgh Road South and Preston Street.

The caller told police she and her daughter had left their home at approximately 4 p.m. while her husband was napping.

“When they got home about 6:15 p.m. they noted items strewn about throughout the house,” police said in a media release. “Items including cash, a jewelry bag and video game system were stolen. Other property stolen from the home was located by family members during a search of the area around the house.”
