A man who is deemed a high-risk offender by Guelph Police, is being released from custody by correctional services on Sat. March 1.

Police said Medhani Yohans, 35, has a history of violence, that includes two stranger sexual assaults.

“The Guelph Police Service believes that Yohans poses a risk to the community, particularly to women, and are concerned that he may commit similar offences in the future,” police said in a news release.

Yohans is described as Black, 5’9”, thin build with black hair and brown eyes.

Police said he resided primarily in Guelph over the past eight years, and it is believed he may return to the city following his release.

This isn’t the first time police have warned the public about him. He was released from a custodial facility in Toronto in Aug. 2024 and police. At the time, he was wanted by Guelph Police and a warrant was issued for his arrest after failing to comply with conditions of his release.

He was arrested again weeks later.

Guelph Police ask that anyone who sees him, do not approach him, but rather notify police at 519-824-1212, in order to ensure he is abiding by his conditions.
