A Guelph man has been charged with impaired driving after a road rage incident in the city.
A man contacted the Guelph Police Service around 10 p.m. Thursday to report an assault. He said he and his friend had been driving in the Paisley Road and Imperial Road North area when another driver began honking his horn. The man accused the other driver of following him.
Both drivers stopped on Stephanie Drive and got out of their vehicles to confront each other. They both described the other as the aggressor in the incident.
While speaking to one of the drivers, officers said they could smell alcohol on his breath. After failing a roadside breath test, he was arrested and taken to a police station for more testing.
A 27-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his mother’s vehicle was impounded for 90 days.
