A Guelph woman turned herself in to police after another woman was attacked with bear spray last week.
According to Guelph Police, a resident was walking her dogs near Exhibition Park just before 11 p.m. last Tuesday when her dogs began reacting to a noxious substance. The owner believed the smell was coming from a basement apartment and went to check on the occupants. She said she found a woman vomiting inside.
Investigators learned the woman had been visiting a friend when another woman they both knew showed up and a physical confrontation broke out. The victim was reportedly punched in the heads several times and the substance was sprayed directly into her face. Paramedics treated her injuries at the scene.
On Friday, police contacted a suspect by phone and she agreed to turn herself in.
A 35-year-old Guelph woman has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, administering a noxious substance and mischief under $5,000.
