Necklace stolen in distraction theft: Guelph Police

A Rockwood woman reported that she was the victim of a distraction theft after a woman approached her in a parking lot asking for directions.

On Tuesday the woman said she was shopping at a business on Speedvale Avenue East when she was approached in the parking lot by two people in a grey SUV. Police said a woman exited the vehicle and asked her for directions. During the interaction the woman allegedly offered the victim jewelry and repeatedly tried to hold her hand and hug her.

After the pair left the victim realized her necklace was missing.

Police described the woman as possibly Indian, shorter than 5’7” with long hair in a ponytail and wearing a white top with blue leaf-style pattern. The driver of the vehicle was a possibly an Indian man in his late 30s or early 40s with a heavy build and short, wavy hair.
