Guelph Police say a transit driver was assaulted Thursday at the downtown bus terminal.
Police were called to Guelph Central Station on Carden Street. According to the bus driver, he exited the bus to use the washroom, closing the door behind him per policy. A man was waiting on the platform.
“The man said he would wait on the platform for the driver to return but instead followed him to the washroom area where he punched the driver in the face before fleeing on foot,” said a media release from police.
The victim was treated on scene by paramedics for a minor injury.
Anyone who witnessed the altercation is asked to call police.
