Special weather statement issued as rain, possible thunderstorms approach

Julie Atchison has the latest forecast for southern Ontario

Skies are starting to clear and here comes the sunshine across the region.

“We’re going to scour out that low level moisture and we have a beautiful afternoon heading into the evening. Temperatures are headed into the upper teens. It’s been a slow climb with that cloud cover and fog first thing this morning, but high pressure is building in and that will clear us out for your Friday afternoon evening,” said CTV News meteorologist Julie Atchison.

Despite beautiful conditions heading into tonight, we have a special weather statement in effect for all of southern Ontario.

Once again, more rain coming in for your Saturday, “This is associated with a cold front that could bring 10 to 20 millimeters of rain as we head into the morning,” said Atchison.

Rain arrives with the potential for some thunderstorms across the area and then heading into the afternoon, still some showers around.

“This will be the leading edge of a very cold air mass that will be moving in for your Sunday and there is the potential for some flakes of snow in parts of midwestern Ontario as we head into Sunday afternoon.”

Temperatures are set to rebound on Tuesday next week, back to where we should be for this time of year and above as we head Wednesday through Friday into the upper teens.
