Cold morning gives way to sunshine, warmer temperatures by Sunday

Julie Atchison has the latest forecast as we head into the weekend

An icy wind chill to start the day in southwestern Ontario.

“It’ll feel close to minus 10. We have a bit of cloud at sunrise, but that will quickly clear. We have sunshine in the forecast as we head through Friday afternoon,” said CTV News meteorologist Julie Atchison.

“It’ll be chilly this afternoon. Temperatures holding below normal as we had that cold front come through last night. We have some flurries north of London heading into Saturday morning, but the rest of the region will be into a nice mix of sun and cloud and temperatures are warming up for Sunday.”

Atchison suggests Sunday looks like the best day where temperature temperatures climb above normal and full sunshine is expected.

Friday: A mix of sun and cloud. Wind northeast 20 km/h becoming northwest 20 early this afternoon. High plus 1. Wind chill minus 13 this morning.

Friday Night: A few clouds. Increasing cloudiness late this evening then 30 percent chance of flurries overnight. Low minus 7. Wind chill minus 12 overnight.

Saturday: Mainly cloudy. 30 per cent chance of flurries in the morning. Clearing late in the afternoon. Wind becoming northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 in the morning. High plus 2. Wind chill minus 12 in the morning.

Sunday: Sunny. High 11.

Monday: A mix of sun and cloud. High 13.
