Coun. Sam Trosow stated his strong opposition to a dime increase in the fee the city’s digital parking payment provider charges.

HONK Mobile wants to raise its fee from $0.25 to $0.35.

City staff argues the increase meets inflation and matches or beats the rate paid in other municipalities.

Deputy Mayor Shawn Lewis added the dime jump does not break the bank of city motorists.

“I reject the premise that somebody that is able to pay for fuel, car insurance, and is paying for parking, isn’t going to have data to pay for their HONK mobile. I just don’t think that is an equity lens that is being accurately applied here,” said Lewis.
