The London Knights suffered just their ninth loss in regulation in a shocking upset by the Niagara Ice Dogs Saturday.
Rookie goalie Hayden Jeffrey picked up his first Ontario Hockey League (OHL) win, as the Ice Dogs beat the Knights 6-4 at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ont.
It was Niagara’s first win since Jan. 26 and it ended a 12-game winless streak, while London lost in regulation for the first time since Feb. 2.
The positive news for the Knights is they still hold a four-point lead on Kitchener in the Midwest Division, and also have four games in hand for the top seed in the OHL.
London has 94 points with 11 games remaining, while the Rangers have 90 with just seven games left on their schedule.
The Knights finish up a three-game-in-three-day weekend with a trip to Oshawa to face the Generals Sunday night.
