It was a busy day of filming inside the BMO Centre in London, Ont. on Friday as a group of young soccer players from the AEL League participated in a music video shoot.
“This is absolutely like it’s such a rare opportunity. It really is history in the making for the girls,” said Milton Gougoulias, AEL FC Canada President.
Local musicians from the group ‘Simple Reflections Collective’ were filming a video to their new song called ‘The Beautiful Game’ and as the group’s founder Dario Novoa told CTV News, they have big aspirations.
“Hopefully that the song can be played at the World Cup,” continued Novoa. “We’re just so excited about it, we put our heart and soul because you know what Music unites us, and the World Cup unites the whole world.”
With their parents and coaches on the sidelines, the young girls were excited as they took part in day one of filming.
“It’s like a new experience for me a bit because I’m with all my friends and everything, and we’re just shooting a video for FIFA so it’s really special,” said U12 AEL soccer player, Dara Akinwumi.

“Dancing with my friends and holding signs up, it was really fun,” added 11-year-old soccer player Selma Deoliveira.
The group is putting a call out to any soccer academies or teams in London who want to be apart of their initiative.
“This is just the beginning or something bigger, we inviting everyone across the city, across the province, across the country,” said Novoa.
Simple Reflections Collective spent spent a year developing the soundtrack, that is now available on all digital platforms.
They are now hoping for additional funding to continue pursuing their dream of having their song and this video played on screens across the country and the world.
