Knights win Family Day matinee, earn fifth straight victory

The win keeps the Knights six points clear of second place Kitchener, with three games still in hand.

Kasper Halttunen broke a 1-1 tie early in the third period, helping the London Knights to a 4-1 win over the Flint Firebirds at Canada Life Place Monday afternoon.

Halttunen’s goal came a little more than five minutes after Denver Barkey tied the game in the first minute of the final frame. Barkey added an assist, then sealed the victory with an empty net goal for a three point night. He was awarded the game’s first star honours.

Austin Elliott maintained an impressive record in goal for London, stopping 21 of the 22 shots he faced. He’s now lost just once in 24 appearances this season.

The win keeps the Knights six points clear of second place Kitchener, with three games still in hand.

London’s next game is Friday night against the Brampton Steelheads at Canada Life Place.
