Lewis seeks re-election as Ward 2 Councillor, teases mayoral run in future election

Deputy Mayor and Ward 2 Coun. Shawn Lewis is seeking a third term representing the Argyle area ward at city hall but acknowledges he might run for the mayor’s office in a future election.

“I’ve been asked to run for mayor by a number of people, [but] I just don’t feel the timing is right for me,” Lewis explained.

“The time may come, but what I like about being the ward councillor is I get to keep my feet on the ground. I definitely want to continue serving my community in the Argyle area.”

Lewis filed his nomination papers at city hall on Friday while recovering from a case of shingles that have made him temporarily light-sensitive and wearing sunglasses.

The nomination period for the 2026 Municipal Election ends on Aug. 21.

Also registered as a candidate for Ward 2 is Zack Ramsey.

Election Day is Oct. 26.
