The provincially appointed supervisor at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) says ongoing corporate restructuring at the hospital will result in cost savings.
David Musyj made the comments at a Community Update Meeting for LHSC Wednesday.
Musyj was brought in for an 18-month term to address a $150 million deficit at LHSC. This fall, the hospital terminated 59 managers and re-assigned 71 others to lower paid positions.
Musyj said he would not go into private contractual agreements with former employees, but added that cost efficiencies will eventually be realized.
“While there are some costs associated with severance, it’s important to remember that these positions were not being replaced. And so they’re leaving the organization, and it will result in longer-term cost savings to the organization,” explained Musyj.
