London pools open for summer ahead of weekend temperature spike

CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison looks ahead at the forecast as we approach Canada Day.

A bit of a damp start to your Thursday, with potential for thunderstorms tonight, however conditions are expected to turn on Friday.

“We’re back into a mix of sun and cloud [on Friday] and the weekend will feature some nice conditions,” smiled CTV London Meterologist Julie Atchison. “It’ll be a bit muggy as well through the morning and heading into this afternoon [today].”

The probability of showers and thunderstorms ticks up on Friday, however there’s a chance it may just end up cloudy with sunny breaks, “it’ll just [depend on] how quickly a lot of that low level moisture clears out,” said Atchison.

Saturday will be cloudy with sunny breaks, but the real turn comes on Sunday, when temperatures are expected to shoot up to around 30 degrees.

If you’re looking to cool off, you can do so at various swimming pools across the city starting this weekend.

“It’s going to be a hot, sticky Canada Day across the area with temperatures expected to climb,” said Atchison.

All outdoor pools will open for the season on Saturday.

All wading pools will also open on Saturday, while splash pads have been operating since May.
