The St. Thomas Police Service has arrested an individual for allegedly assaulting police and resisting arrest.
On Wednesday around 1:20 a.m., police were called to the area of Princess Avenue and Talbot Street for reports of an unwanted person involved in an altercation.
Police said through an investigation, they determined the 44-year-old St. Thomas person was wanted on an outstanding warrant by the London police.
When officers attempted to arrest the person, the STPS said the person became combative, resisting arrest while kicking and spitting at police.
They were then taken to police headquarters and searched, which revealed a quantity of drugs.
The accused is now facing charges for resisting a peace officer, two counts of assaulting a peace officer, possession of a schedule one substance – opioid, possession of a schedule one substance – methamphetamine and possessing unmarked cigarettes.
