Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is alerting the community of a potential measles exposure.
If you were in the Stratford General hospital Emergency waiting room on Thursday between 4:15 p.m. and 7:40 p.m., you may have been exposed.
You are asked to monitor for signs and symptoms of measles for 21 days after the exposure. You are also asked to call HPPH at 1-888-221-2133 extension 3299 if you were present and you or a family member present was born in or after 1970 and haven’t had two doses of the measles vaccine, or if you are a high risk of severe measles illness. Those at a high risk include anyone with compromised immunity, pregnant, or is less than one year old.
Symptoms of measles are a fever, runny nose, cough, watery, red eyes, small white spots inside the mouth and throat, and/or a red, blotchy rash appearing on the face, spreading down the body.
Before going for medical attention, call and tell them you have measles symptoms so they can prepare and prevent spreading.
