Rock the Runway organizers respond after parking chaos

Jones Entertainment is giving parking refunds to Rock the Runway patrons after lengthy delays leaving the shows. CTV London’s Lauren Stallone reports.

Some fans at London’s Rock the Runway festival said Noah Kahan’s lyrics “You’re Gonna Go Far” felt a little too real earlier this month.

After the concert wrapped up, frustrated concert goers took to social media saying it took them hours to leave the parking lot at London International Airport.

“The concert ended, we got to the car at 11:07 [p.m.]. We did not start moving till about 12:30 [a.m.],” one fan shared online.

The two-day festival transformed the airport runway into a massive music venue.

“We walked into the venue, and it was basically an empty runway on Tuesday at 8 a.m., and by Friday at 4 p.m. we hosted 25,000 people,” said Brad Jones of Jones Entertainment Group.

While organizers said the event was a success, they also acknowledged the parking issues.

“We got a lot of emails and messages sent to us, and we want to get it right,” Jones said.

Attendees who paid for parking can expect a full refund within the next five to seven business days.

“Thank you for enjoying a great night with us and we’re going to get it better,” Jones added.

Despite the hiccups, organizers say they hope Rock the Runway will become a London tradition.

“It just gives us an opportunity to do that next-level entertainment that we haven’t been able to do in London or southwestern Ontario,” said Jones.
