Wingham’s Golf and Curling Club has new life.
The 9-hole golf course and curling rink was closed by a community-run board of directors in October 2024 and was put up for sale.
After several interested parties took a look, Scott Bowman, owner of the Southport Golf Course in Southampton, stepped up and purchased Wingham’s club in December.
Bowman said the Wingham Golf and Curling Club will now be known as the Maitland Links Golf Club, and Maitland Granite Curling and Recreation Club.
He hopes to return the old Wingham course to its glory years through community involvement and capital investments.
Golf will resume at Maitland Links this spring, and curling will return next winter, according to Bowman.
The former Wingham Golf Club has been operating on the edge of Wingham since 1950.
