The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) is warning of potential flooding next week if our snowpack melts quickly.

In an advisory, the agency confirms the amount of water in our snowpack is twice the amount of the last several years.

While colder weather is expected this weekend, a warming trend with possible double-digit temperatures midweek has raised concern.

The UTRCA reports “There is the potential for significant flooding when the melt occurs,” especially if high temperatures lead to a rapid melt.

The advisory includes a warning to keep children and pets away from waterways.
