St. Thomas police make arrest after downtown assault

Charges have been laid in St. Thomas after police were notified of an altercation in the downtown core.

Just before 1 a.m. Friday, police were called to the 400 block of Talbot Street.

When officers arrived, they learned a verbal argument had occurred between two people in an intimate relationship.

According to police, the argument escalated, and resulted in the victim being assaulted by their partner.

A 39 year old was charged with assault with a weapon and was taken to police headquarters. Later, they were released with a future court date scheduled.
