Oxford OPP is searching for a suspect wanted in connection to a failure to remain at a collision investigation. A cyclist was involved in the incident.

On Thursday at 11 p.m., emergency services were called to the collision on Blandford Street in Innerkip.

Police said a vehicle hit a cyclist then drove away before officers arrived on scene.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

Now, police are looking for the suspect involved. Pieces of a tinted bug deflector were found on scene. The vehicle will have front-end damage and a broken bug deflector. No further details are known at this time.

“If you are involved in a motor vehicle collision on a highway or road in Ontario, it is your responsibility as the driver of the vehicle to remain at or immediately return to the scene of the collision, render assistance, and exchange information in relation to the driver’s identity, vehicle and insurance information,” said OPP in a news release.

Anyone who has information that could help the investigation or who has dashcam footage between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. around Blandford Street is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
