The Thames Valley District Junior and Senior boys basketball All-Star game was held Wednesday at Fanshawe College.
During half time, there was a three-point shooting competition with some of the best shooters in the city participating.
Awards were handed out to tier 1 and 2 recipients of the Mr. Basketball and the Ted Early award, for the top graduating basketball player in the city who displayed community service, academic success, leadership and sportsmanship.
“This was the best all-star game yet. The venue was amazing and hosted more fans than we’ve ever had to a packed house. The games were competitive and the whole evening went perfectly,” said Head Coach CCH Senior Boys Basketball and All-Star Game Organizer, Chris Scott.
“The crowd was into it, the kids had a great time and Fanshawe College were fantastic hosts! We had beautiful pre-game speeches from Jason Edmonds mother, Denise and Shaun Lodge’s aunt, Janae and continue to honour the two young men who tragically lost their lives 25 years ago. It’s great that this All-Star game will continue to honour their memory and dedication to the city of London and game of basketball for years to come.”
Fanshawe provided its gym at no cost to support the games.
The event was once again in honour of Shaun Lodge and Jason Edmonds, two former London high school basketball standouts who tragically lost their lives 25 years ago in a car accident due to road rage.
The games where free for spectators, with donations being collected at the door for Childcan and a toy drive for Eid.
