London police have charged two teenage girls after an assault with a weapon investigation in the south end of the city.
A female walking in the area of Bradley Avenue and Jalna Boulevard was confronted by two teenage girls unknown to her on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Police say the three girls became involved in a verbal argument and when the female victim attempted to walk away from the teens, one of the girls hit the victim over the head with a bottle while the other sprayed the victim with pepper spray before she fell to the ground.
Once on the ground, police say the teens continued to assault the victim before fleeing from the area on foot.
A citizen nearby called 911.
Officers located and arrested both suspects a short distance away.
The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 14-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl both of London, who cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been jointly charged with the following offences:
Assault with a weapon; and,
Fail to comply with an undertaking.
The 14-year-old has been additionally charged with possession of a weapon.
The 15-year-old has been additionally charged with assault causing bodily harm.
Both teens appeared in London court Thursday in relation to the charges.
