Today we’re getting a break from the bitterly cold temperatures we’ve been experiencing in southwestern Ontario this week.
“Temperature wise, we are headed up expecting above freezing in parts of the region this afternoon,” said CTV London Meteorologist Julie Atchison. Daytime highs in the area are ranging from 0 C to 2 C.
Our next weather system will arrive overnight into a Saturday morning. “It’ll be snowfall in midwestern Ontario expecting some flurries to start to develop... but we some mixed precipitation in the area, so London really on the fringe of that with the potential for a bit of rainfall.”
Most of the rainfall will occur to the south of the Forest City, with rain projected in Chatham-Kent, and Port Stanley.
London seems to be the threshold, as north of the city the region can expect more snow.
Heading into Saturday, the tables will turn once more, “this is a quick moving system. By Saturday afternoon, we’re back into cloud cover and some lake effect flurries developing in midwestern Ontario,” said Atchison.
Those warmer temperatures aren’t set to hang around either, “Sunday night into Monday bitterly frigid cold air will arrive to the region and we’ll see dangerously cold wind chills,” warned Atchison.
Environment Canada has recognized projected temperatures for next week (from Sunday night to Wednesday morning) as ‘abnormal,’ stating that, “Temperatures may be colder than those that have been seen the last several years.”
