Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a 21-year-old man was stabbed at least once during an altercation in the Ville-Marie borough.
The SPVM said they received a call at around 6:50 p.m. on Friday reporting an altercation between many individuals on Berger Street near Sainte-Catherine Street.
“When police officers arrived on the scene, they located a 21-year-old man who had been stabbed at least once in the lower body. The victim was rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition,” said SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.
Brabant added that police fear for the victim’s life.
“According to information provided by different witnesses, the altercation between the individuals escalated and led to the stabbing,” Brabant said.
A perimeter was set up on Berger Street, which is currently closed between Sainte-Catherine and Charlotte Street.
Investigators are on their way to the scene and will try to understand the circumstances that led to the stabbing.
No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
