An abandoned commercial building in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough was engulfed by flames Wednesday night in what Montreal police say was possibly arson.
According to the Montreal fire department, the blaze started around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Pierrefonds and St-Jean boulevards. Over 90 firefighters were on-site and had the flames under control by 8:30 p.m.
No injuries have been reported.
Pierrefonds Boulevard was closed in both directions between Saint-Jean and Harry-Worth streets.
The fire department transferred the case to Montreal police who believe the incident was of criminal nature. An investigation is ongoing.
Several homes and businesses in the area temporarily lost power while firefighters were at work.
