Authorities recall cheese curds out of Bromont, Que.

Health authorities are warning consumers not to eat Fromage Bromont cheese curds, from the company of the same name.

The Quebec Agriculture, Fisheries and Nutrition Ministry said on Friday that the cheese had not been prepared under conditions that ensured its safety.

The lots of “Bromont Fresh Cheese of the Day” in question have packaging or manufacturing dates of Jan. 25, Feb. 8 or Feb. 15. These cheese curds were on sale until Feb. 20 in various outlets.

The cheese was presented in a transparent plastic bag at room temperature.

Authorities are asking consumers to return the cheese to the store where it was purchased, or to throw it away, even if it does not smell or look spoiled.

Although no cases of illness have been reported to the authorities in connection with the curds, they “may present a health risk,” the ministry said in a news release issued on Friday.
